Celebrating The 33rd Anniversary of The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)
We know that if you’re reading this blog post, you’re likely someone living with disability, or the caregiver of a loved one challenged by disability.
Did you know that two days from now -- July 26 -- marks the 33rd anniversary of the very beneficial and critical American with Disabilities Act (ADA) being signed into law?
Key Objectives Of The ADA
So, what are key objectives of The ADA? According to the ADA National Network’s website, “The ADA is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. The purpose of the law is to make sure that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. The ADA is divided into five titles (or sections) that relate to different areas of public life.”
You can learn about the five titles/sections of The ADA in the Overview section of The ADA National Network's website.
A Goal We Share With The ADA
As we’ve shared in various blog posts, social media posts, and other marketing materials, each & every day, the team at Lift & Care Systems strives to support those living with disability, and their caregivers, in living the best possible life quality. We do that by providing patient lifts and other durable medical equipment (DME) that provide those living with disability with independence, access, and dignity -- ultimately, supporting individuals with disability being able to take advantage of the "opportunities" referred to in the ADA National Network statement above. But, also by reminding others, via blog posts such as the following, of the need to support those living with disability in feeling empowered and living with dignity.
